About 40 minutes later I had this disappointment in the kiln.

Sure, maybe you’re looking at it and wondering what the big deal is.   It looks nice, what’s up?  On the surface you’re right, it’s kind of nice.  Heck, it even has an internal layer of glow glass that looks really cool.

Sure...it photographs nicely

Well,  had finished it up and was on my way to the kiln, when it fell off the mold and onto the ground.   This alone isn’t always death for a piece, it happens.  But in this case, the marble rolled up against a plastic grocery bag and the plastic bag fused to the glass.     I tried burning it off, but it still left a cloudy mess.   Oh, and the impact from the landing left a stress ripple in the lens of the marble, so it’s wrinkled.   I didn’t notice that bit until this morning.

See that cloudy smudge? Yeah..fail.

Guess they can’t all be winners.   But hey, if we didn’t make mistakes, how would we know when things go right, right?

The half bathroom downstairs is the only windowless room in the house, so it’s a great spot to take pictures of glowing glass items.

Unfortunately, while I was sitting there (lid closed mind you) taking some photos of my latest marble the nylon hinge on the seat broke.  Grrr…
