A little break from the program

You’ll notice a lapse in the Facebook saga for the moment.  For one thing, I kind of wonder if by trying to post to check if I can post I’ve been resetting the timer that precludes me from posting, but since I don’t know when I can post again, the only way is to try to post, triggering the timer to reset again.

I know, ow, quit it.

But I’m giving that until Wednesday.  No, I’m here with a different bit of news this morning, something near and dear my narcissistic heart, me.

I’ve been named the Artist of the Month over on Torch Bugs.com.   While it’s a nice bit of horn tooting in it’s own right, it’s particularly nice for me because it’s one of the first time other people have referred to me as an artist.

There’s some contention in the glass world as to whether or not you’re an artist or a hobbyist if you do it full time as your job vs. part time.  I disagree with that.  I’d say, I’m a man and a father.  I’m a glass blower and a computer programmer.  Why choose?  Not to mention that for me, glass IS my creative outlet that let’s my artistic side do it’s thing.  Plus, there are plenty of people with 2 full time jobs.  How’s that work out for labels?  I’ll say, “industrious.”

So for those who would claim that I’m not an artist because it’s not my full time gig, I’d like to point out that someone else has called me Artist of the Month.  I’ve always referred to myself as an artisan, a less pretentious difference.

So nyah.
