Today I went to use the nearest drive up ATM and there was a woman ahead of me who left her card in the machine. Mind you, it was on the screen asking if I wanted another transaction and I’m not a 100% sure, but I think at that point I could have emptied her account. Instead, I did the right thing, pulled her card out, did my business at the ATM then circled the building to go through the drive through and hand over the card. I would have gone in, but I had the two kids with me and I didn’t want to unload/reload them just for a 10 second trip inside the building.
Wouldn’t you know it? Someone was in front of me at the drive up window. So my good deed wound up inconveniencing me.
Know what though? I’d do it again because I’d hope someone would do the same for me. I’m sure 20 minutes later she realized what she did and started to freak out wondering if the number was on it’s way to the internet to be sold to an identity thief. Well, I hope I made her day.
